ROD STEWART, LAS VEGAS; AND DUCT TAPED BOOBS

It’s so hard being a girl. Do you think anyone that night knew that my husband had to search half of Las Vegas for duct tape to tape me into that dress? Or that I couldn’t lean forward at all or something very Vegas would’ve happened? How about the fact that momma carried her shoes to this spot for the photo, and then carried them to our seats. We both carried our shoes back out and we were SO grateful that the elevator to our room was directly across from this spot!

All of my memories this week are from Las Vegas and fun! I swear my boobs aren’t that great, nor are they this size. But when you squeeze them into a tight dress and duck them to stay, it apparently creates huge boob syndrome. And this show was fan freaking tastic!

VINCE NEIL’S TATUADOS: EAT, DRINK. PARTY! LAS VEGAS,NV.

We ate, we drank, we partied. For the record, you can, too, easily. I bought a Groupon for Vince Neil’s, Tatuados restaurant/bar online. It included two steak dinners, one bottle of wine, and a piece of cheesecake to share. Can you get a better steak dinner and a better bottle of wine? Obviously. But not for the super cheap price I paid for it, which was somewhere around $20 give or take. Besides, I doubt very seriously you’re visiting this place for the food. The memorabilia and atmosphere for Motley Crue fans is the key reason you’d be here, so even if you don’t buy the Groupon, you can stop by for a drink or just look around. In fact, this was my first trip to Las Vegas, and I’ve been back twice since then and went back to this place both again while there.

MOB MUSEUM, LAS VEGAS

MOB DAY IN VEGAS? YES, PLEASE! I gotta tell ya, when we go on vacation we really go hard. We had five days to spend in Las Vegas and we were not about to miss certain places, and the Mob Museum was one of those places. It’s very interesting with lots of information. I won’t bother posting all the pics of the exhibits, but you can look it up and check it out yourself next time you’re in Sin City!

GRAND CANYON WEST RIM -HUALAPAI RANCH

Just a short two, maybe two and a half hour drive from Las Vegas, NV. I highly recommend dedicating a day trip to the Grand Canyon West Rim if you’re that close.

More than that, if the weather permits I’d highly recommend making the drive in a convertible. We didn’t even know we wanted a convertible until we went to pick up our rental van and it wasn’t ready. They asked us if we’d be willing to take the new Mustang convertible. Let me think about that for one second…I’m kidding. I didn’t have to think about that at all. It was July and the weather was beautiful. I couldn’t think of a better way to drive to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas through the beautiful scenery!
This was mine and my husband’s first trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. My little momma had driven across the country twice many, many years ago, before I was born and taken in all the sites along the way.

The Hualapai Ranch is an Indian Reservation on the West Rim of the canyon. Everything is made up to look like an old western town. This is also where the famous skywalk is. We didn’t do the skywalk- it does cost extra money on top of the small fee to enter the ranch, but there’s also a barbeque restaurant, activities for kids, and a public restroom.

You can ride the shuttle from point to point (included in the cost) to see the different views.

Enjoy, Barrelassers 😉

VIVA LAS VEGAS

Who ziplines in a dress and high heels over Fremont Street in Las Vegas? Lucy does, that’s who.
I didn’t plan it that way, but most of the things I do don’t usually go as planned 😉 Special thanks to “Zilla” for all the great pics they took of us. Yes, we paid for them.

VAN HALEN TOUR 2015

I had the pleasure of hitting the road 2 years ago on this day to see Van Halen in Charlotte, NC. I never pass up an opportunity to take Barrelassin’ Momma with me when I can, and she was available. She’s a hoot! I really have enjoyed this venue several times. It’s the PNC Music Pavilion and it’s a few hours from home. They have some of the cleanest restrooms for an outdoor venue I’ve ever come across and the lines are super fast! None of that worrying about missing the show or having to use the Port-a potty. Really nice staff as well. Very organized place.

The sound is great, but what can I say- when you’re seeing people like Van Halen and all the others I’ve seen there, the sound you hear is going to be nothing short of something amazing. I was able to upgrade my seats at the last minute seats that became available for this particular show and we couldn’t have been happier. My little Momma is happy to join me as my Rock ‘N Roll sidekick, and together we’ve piled up and driven to many places and even hopped on and flown to a few just to have some fun. That’s not bad for a woman who just turned 75 years young.

I love all forms of Van Halen and all forms of Sammy Hagar- so I’m not interested in that debate. You can give me any one of those talented bunch of guys, together or separate, playing a huge show or playing in the damn circus for all I care, as long as they keep playing for me, I’m a happy gal! Next up- Sammy Hagar, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, Asheville, NC. I can’t wait for the Red Rocker! (I tried to get those Cabo tickets but it’s not in the stars for me this time. One day.

Enjoy, Barrelassers 😉

PANTS ON THE GROUND!

I assure you, you have not lived until you’ve traveled from place to place attending mostly Rock N Roll concerts with your  70 plus mother in tow (it’super fun!), but let me REALLY, REALLY ASSURE YOU, that you have not lived until your mother’s pants fall down at the airport while waiting to check your  luggage.

For starters we can all take comfort in knowing what a trooper and a great sport my seventy-four year old mother is. I always say I live the life of Lucy and she is clearly where I get my Lucy-ish lifestyle from.
Several hours before this photo was taken in San Diego, California, we waited at the curb-side luggage check outside in the pre-dawn hours at the airport in Knoxville, TN. where my mother, my daughter, and myself, were also waiting for my husband to park the car.

I suppose the three of us were hanging out checking our phones when I heard a yelp from my mother and my name called out by her somehow at the same time. When I turned my head to look her way, my mother’s pants were around her ankles and she was bending over with her bottom facing toward, not away from, but toward the groups of people being dropped off and exiting cars. Keep in mind, had she been facing the other direction she would’ve only shown myself and my daughter her bottom but no, not her lucky day apparently.
The backstory to this particular pair of pants is that they were my pants. She had spent the night with me the night before flying due to our early flight and was still wearing what she had worked in, and had forgotten the pants she had planned to fly in. I told her how comfortable she would be in these pants and loaned them to her.
When I ran over to help grab my mother’s pants off the ground and pulled them up, something wasn’t quite right. Not only were the three of us laughing with tears streaming down our faces because of the situation thus far, I had to tell her that she had the pants on backwards. The front/side pockets were in the back, and the back pockets were in the front, which also contributed to them not fitting properly in the back to begin with.
At this point we were left with no other option than to tie her sweater around her waist tightly to use as a belt of sorts. That, and lie down on the sidewalk and laugh until I cried of course. My teenage daughter was laughing but she couldn’t even look at us. My mother had tears streaming down her face and couldn’t even speak from laughing. Fortunately, my husband missed the entire episode!
Eventually we were able to get our luggage checked and get her inside to the restroom and at least turn the pants around. All she could say when she was finally able to speak again was, “They felt like they fit fine.”
Enjoy, Barrelassers’🙂

74th Barrelassin’ Birthday Bash!

Located on the North Shore of Hawaii, near Honolulu, you can visit The Dole Plantation. Beautiful grounds and a good time. You could make this an a day trip if you want with several different things to do there. We didn’t do the GIANT maze, and I do mean GIANT, because we had other plans for the day. We elected to take The Pineapple Express around the place and get about 20 or 25 minutes of information of everything we passed via the train conductor. Great idea!
I highly recommend purchasing the GoPass Honolulu card if you plan to see a lot of sites. Make sure you purchase the one for the number of days you will need. Everything at the Dole Plantation is on the pass. And if you don’t have the pass, or want to save it for a more expensive place, nothing at the plantation is very expensive. Maybe $7 or $8 for each thing. If you have a large family though, it could save you a lot. You can get them for several different cities. Here’s a link to the plantation and the GoPass site.

You MUST try the famous pineapple whip!
But be sure to finish before you get to the train. You can’t wait on the train with it.
It’s delicious!
